Meet The Teacher

Hi! Thanks for visiting my blog. I'm Ann Nipper and I have been a student of yoga going on 25 years now, and owner/instructor of Yoga Around Town since 2002. I am a E-RYT 500 hour, Certified Hatha Yoga Teacher, registered with Yoga Alliance. I completed my 200 hour Teacher Training Program with Lynn Burgess, owner of Yoga From The Heart, Sarasota, Florida.  My 300 hour Advanced Teacher Training Program was completed with Lillah Swartz, owner of Yoga with Lillah, Ashville, N.C.  Additional training with Wanda Howe, Yoga For All, Seminole, FL.

Over the years I have had the amazing privilege of working with some of the most influential yoga teacher of our time (Patricia Walden, Rodney Yee, Judith Hanson Lasater Ph.D., P.T., Tias Little, Roger Cole, Dean Learner, Ray Long, Ph.D., Baxter Bell, Ph.D., & Cyndi Lee), all of whom have been influenced by the teaching style of B.K.S. Iyengar. I am drawn to the alignment principals established in the Iyengar tradition because of the safe and effective adaptive application of the postures.

The style of yoga that I teach combines proper body alignment and restorative movement, which can open up a world of curiosity and self-discovery for students. Classes focus on increasing body awareness, strength, and balance, as well as developing flexibility and ease of movement. Teaching a variety of movement options along with the use of props during class, make these yoga classes accessible, fun, and challenging for the more advanced yoga practitioner as well as those individuals who have never taken a yoga class before.

I teach weekly classes as well as private instruction. Private sessions incorporate a restorative focus.
Each private session is uniquely developed to suit the student's needs, focusing on bringing equilibrium back to the body. Each session builds upon what was taught in the previous meeting, establishing uniformity of the student's progress.
